Lex and our eldest son Michael, along with three other regular crew members have
been contesting the Donald Hay Memorial Trophy for the past ten years.
This year was the 25th anniversary of the race. It is held on Lake Wakatipu
in New Zealand which is the lake that the tourist town of Queenstown is situated
on in Central Otago.
Yachts from throughout the country compete for this trophy, and there can be up
to 100 boats competing over the four classes.
Lex and his crew have won minor prizes before, but the big overall one has
eluded them - UNTIL THIS YEAR !!!!!!!! Along with the cup (pictured)
there was an outsized bottle of Rum and other goodies which have been
shared amongst the crew.
The yacht they sail is a Farr 740 Sport named Veloce
